Classes/Schedule
Gentle Yoga: This ninety minute class begins each week with a short meditation and centering. We then move into the physical poses, focusing on opening and strengthening at a slower, more deliberate tempo. This enables each practitioner to grow and evolve at his or her own pace, without competition or pressure. This class is ideal for the new/beginning yogi, as well as providing a review and reinforcement of aligment and postures for those who have practiced previously. Classes close with relaxation and centering once again, to bring the experience full circle, and set a peaceful tone for the rest of the day.
Vinyasa Yoga: Vinyasa means connecting movements through breath. This ninety minute class is more challenging, although all are welcome. We begin with a centering philosphy or intention to create a focus for our practice, moving into sun salutations and more vigorous sequencing. We balance effort with equanimity in order to achieve both strength and flexibility. Incorporated throughout are backbending postures, balances, and inversions. We close with savasana, a final relaxation, to integrate the practice and reground the spirit. You resume your day feeling stronger, more flexible and mindfully present.
